where the wild flowers grow

0 posted 2004-04-29 12:34 PM

I caved,
I saved
the mouse
from
the cat's
mouth.
Rough scruff,
shaven tree trunks, and
living rodents in my
minor aches and scratches.

There is something wrong when
the stars turn in
to dollar signs,
the grass is covered
in blood, deer meat and
it once had legs to
run far away from
here.

I keep thinking,
there is no good luck here.
This thing should not
have to live under steam, and in darkness.
However, I refuse
to dig another grave,
and hope
that the underground messiahs
will wish the corpses well.

I will save you, so long
as you can heal the bruises yourself.
Go back to where you dwell.

This is a very thought provoking write and well crafted.  Your insights (though I am sure often painful for you) and talent continue to grow by leaps, and they are much appreciated.

Thank you for sharing this.

Whew...you write with a quiet intensity that is startling.
