      I See…You

I find myself in the middle of my life
do you remember that I told you once
that I know and consider myself a realist
for I have been blessed and cursed with a gift
preciously inherited to me from my mother
to see and know things others never view
a gift but one I can not turn on and off at will
at times I can pick them out and share them
yet others internalize close to protect and shield
I see the inhales and exhales of disappointments
breath that I am not blind to, even with this sight
and I see…you
something so soft and vulnerable as you hide
behind thick walls of defenses that I can not break
you think that I am a strange woman but I am not
it is just you truly do not understand or see, me
and at times you have to walk away to save your heart
for I just find it so achingly difficult to stand
so close to something I can not touch

Wonderful writing Helen, and I can agree with all you say here.

Hope your classes are still going well for you.

This is really good. Of course, if he would stop being an idiot....

I AM smiling...
And tht fact should be enough to cause you to worry.

Helen, you will never know how right on you are with this for me, as well -- it's as if you penned my thoughts!  It is a gift.
