River of the Heart

In the river I learned to swim and pulled myself ashore.
I watch reflections floating by, punctuating time.
Sitting still I hear the words
Pronounced above the drowning rhymes.
“Staying afloat is not enough, climb, climb.”

In the flux and flow of life I’ve found some truth.
I’ve been a wife.  I’ve seen the rise of waves of love
And known the flow of sorrow’s salt
Drowning hearts of turtle doves.
Staying afloat is not enough, climb, climb.

The river gives, the river takes, the river yins,
The river yangs.  The river bends but continues on.
It wrestles drought and weathers storm
And bears relentless souls afire.

Aspiring so toward something higher.
Just staying afloat is not enough,
climb.

My dear,
Nature has a way of showing us what we need to do. The tried and true methods of existence...of survival, and of freedom.
Inner peace is precious. Climb..climb.
You did her proud.

I like the metaphor in climbing to make a situation better than just floating... original and fresh in word... very good writing, indeed.

(smiles) Awwwwwww, I couldn't agree with you more, sweet friend, I believe the river is the blue ribbon that nourishes and nurtures the spirit of life and if we can all try and hear the voices of the water, we will feel true balance and harmony! (kiss on cheek) Yay, may your heart always be cradled on the waters of love and happiness, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Jo, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
