Gems in the Yard

what would you think
of lolling in the sun
upon a pillow of mums
and a bed of lawn?

a vanity screen
of baby’s breath
to cover sprawling limbs
leaving dainty polka-dots
of sun-drenched ecru trim

like eyelet lace
to decorate
our flesh for days on end
wouldn’t it be
quite lovely
a memory-laden gem!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
