Summer sounds now fill the air
Off in the distance, sirens blare
Car stereos are booming, loud and fast
The ice cream truck is making rounds
It’s music has a luring sound
Brings memories of my distant, youthful past...

It seems like only yesterday
I wished the Winter grays away
But little did I know what that would mean
Somehow we bypassed gentler days
Straight into Summer’s heated glaze
I’m wondering now...what happened to our Spring?

The gardening store said plant my flowers
And hope they’ll get some cooler hours
I think that Spring is where we all adjust
I like to watch the ‘coming to’
The old replaced by budding new
A peaceful prelude to hot Summer’s thrust...

But it’s only April, things can change
Spring weather can be very strange
It’s just too soon to wilt upon the vine
So, think I’ll go bring on the rain
And, friends, I haven’t gone insane
But it never fails
I simply hang my clothes out on the line!!

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life

Dear One With the Sun, your poem just put some warmth in my shivering body! It was brrrrrr during the night and I awoke next to my open window without my comforter over me!

Actually, after reading your very descriptive poem, I am reminded that I actually prefer to be cool than to be melting in oppressive heat! lol

Enjoyed your poem ~ and reading you again!

Cool hugs, (Sorry but it doesn't feel like there is any warmth in this body to give! lol)
Linda

Hello sweet SunnyOne,
It's good to see you this morning......even with your "clothes out on the line". (I do the same thing)LOL I loved your rhyme scheme in this one, and I've missed you, my friend. I haven't been around Passions as much lately, though. I've been working on my Tripod website. This banner that you made for me is making it's rounds on the internet. LOL Take a look when you have time. Okay?
With love and hugs, sweet lady
Ethel

Spring has been slow to start this year..
but then...summer and it will quickly pass here too.
Loved this one.

You know, I use to think the same thing. It seemed like all I had to do was hang some clothes on the clothes line and it would rain.

Hi Linda, and I hope you located your comforter, then snuggled in for the rest of your sleep!  Smiling here, and thank you...~S~

Hi Sun-sis, and thank you...I love Spring, but today was just a wee bit on the warm side for my liking!!  ~S~

Hi vandana, and I hope you're staying cool where you are!!  Thank you, ~S~

Hi Grover, and glad you liked the thoughts in this one...I used to be your next door neighbor in Alaska, where Spring is incredible, so I think you must be having a nice one in Canada, eh?  ~S~

Hi Ethel, and that banner looks familiar!!  My puter is still offline, so I drag my hubby away from his occasionally so I can come in and say hi......good to see you, too!  ~S~

Hi Hope, and there was snow a couple of months ago, but not much here in the Midlands.  Bring some cool clothes, as it gets downright warm here in August!!  Thank you.....~S~

Hi Enchantress, and I agree that the seasons pass way too quickly, so it's good we can take a pause to enjoy them as they fly by!  Thank you.....~S~

Hi passing shadows...yes, the weather is always a topic of interest to me, and it's so unpredictable these days!!  Thank you for joining me here...~S~

Hi jwesley, and it worked for you, too, huh?  If you want rain, just water your lawn, wash the car, or hang out clothes!!!  Lol...thank you...~S~

Sunny
It is summer 12 months of the year down here in Florida.  I love it - had enough of the cold growing up in New England. I got a tickle out of you hanging out the clothes to dry.  I haven't done that in at least 25 years.  Everybody shoves them in the dryer.

Hi azblond, and glad you enjoyed these thoughts on a really warm Spring day!!  ~S~

Hi Ariana, and I hang them out 'cause I love that fresh outdoors smell!  A dryer just doesn't do the same thing...well, we all like different things, and I'll keep my 4 seasons.  I like my Winters to be cool, and my Springs to be gentle!!!  LOL...thanks, my friend!   ~S~

Hi Bill, and cool reply poem!!! What did you put in your coffee, eh?  Much enjoyed it, too.........~S~
