The mourning heart in rise of chest
does beat a song in timeless test.
A strum of string and tapping shoe
enjoined in this a song of you.

Days have now passed in silent cry
of that once held within one’s eye.
A lip is bit in silent thought
of what is taken and is wrought.

A smile remembered, a hand once held
before the day a giant was felled.
A spoken word of love then left
alone,  a silent gift bereft.

He knelt in rest, a breath expelled
as distant bells were softly knelled.
Blue eyes then faded into haze
upon this last of living days.

Though silent, strong , a gentle Sire
who gave his all till his expire.
A life alone, now quietly sleeps
a memory left, a son now keeps.

Oh father, thou art my raging blood
giver of that now understood.
Bearer of kindness, caring eyes.
As your first son now softly cries

Eternity holds you now, and
memories never fade...
As you lie beneath an oak
and sleep in springtime shade.

Softly speaks the grief, though memories are cherished forever.  What a brilliant legacy this fine man left us...

Barry, I have been having prayerful thoughts of you as of late. This is a quiet, reflective, and somewhat nostalgic, time in one's life when a loved one has passed on. Your poem was beyond touching. It spoke directly to my soul.

Healing hugs,
Linda

absolutely wonderfully rendered, Magnus!

Close to tears from the awesomeness of love and pain woven here.

My favorite lines:

A lip is bit in silent thought
of what is taken and is wrought.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Tears...this was beyond words...beautiful.
