she fed him breakfast
rooty tootie fresh and fruity
paid with her tips
bought him milk too
said he needed it for his smile

did she not see his eyes?
that he had died in 91
when the needle made a drain
and a hard place in his arm
he said he needed it for his smile

they smoked in the parking lot
he seemed to be cold
so she gave him her coat
and a hug for medicinal purposes
said he needed it for his smile

he gave her a treat
like candy to a 'betic
she purpled her eyes for him
and called him baby
said she needed it for her smile

did he see her eyes as she died?
