walking the surreal

I'm experimenting.  Sometimes I like to step outside of my usual romantic and somewhat flowery self and play around.  So this time I thought I'd step into the shoes of those who see but are rarely seen.

The Forgotten

I am, but I am not
I am here but you do not see me
For to see me
You would have to know me
And this you cannot do
If at first you dismiss me
Making up your mind
As to who I am
Before even asking my name

Invisibility is a shield
A barrier of sorts
Erected as a force field
Keeping out your silent slurs
That scream through your averted eyes
For how can you look at me
If I’m not really here?

Walk on by
Think not to forget me
For you cannot forget what you do not know
And you cannot know what you do not see
For I am, but I am not
Except inside of me
Where I cannot escape myself
Nor the fires of your ignorance
That brand me from within

So good to stretch out and try those wings *S*

For I am, but I am not
Except inside of me
Where I cannot escape myself
Nor the fires of your ignorance
That brand me from within

Absolutely excellent lines throughout
