Come Home to Promise

How many tiers
might there be,
if I were to sketch a line or two, from
these vacated, hollow feelings?

It happens like this
after you leave.

Like silk veils, the layers drape
with cool caress, toning skin
which now feels rough
without your touch.

Was it you
who traced my hand,
leavening aged lines into youth
once more, rippling to passion’s extreme
these shuddering emotions,
then slowly drawing
my breath
into your lungs?

Yes.

Admittedly we are but a shell,
akin to a fine vase, perhaps, filled
with seasonal flowers
fully watered in the spring,
middling with summer’s levels,
rivulets flowing as fall winds
whisper long ago promises

as the water’s level,
dips low
to the point where dried husks
and empty pods
no longer require
moisture…

but remember, I do not ask
if you love me, for I know you do
I only ask that I may repeat myself
                                                            to you, endlessly…

Come home soon
that I may welcome you again
with these, my tiers of promise.

write with grace, all others lose face;
"Jo was very tall, thin, ... and reminded one of a colt..." LMA

Ah, the Lady with the name of one of my favourite movies, Lady In White, returns. I am swept away with the magic of your words... You have been sorely missed.

I have felt these same feelings, yet you have painted them into a magical tapestrry. I hope your Love object comes home to you soon. Thank you for sharing

Words of beauty and majesty fill these responses, but they may be inadequate.  KJ
