we were young and happy -
delighted by the fact that
shaking a tree would make
fruits fall towards us
and we didn’t need to
climb the trees like monkees
and hence didn’t get
shouted upon by mothers
for that matter,
either

the shaking of a tree
was obviously
an accidental overture
but the falling of the fruit was not:
gravity played its part there
    we learnt that later
    in Physics classes

while we ate zestily
we, somehow, lost the plot

we missed out on the art of
doing the climb

instead, we lazily waited
for the wind to blow
and for the tree to shake
expecting the fruit to fall
on our laps

now we realise if only
had we learnt how to climb
we could have figured how to
endure the fall
and digest small doses
of pain

books can’t teach them all
and mothes can’t be blamed
for all their loving:
    no, not, never

now is not too late,
either

What wisdom there is in this delightful piece.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Because, we are human, and do what humans do.

The path of least resistance is not always the best. (Or so it would seem)

NICE!

This is a wonderful analogy, my friend.

I think I needed to read this one today.

But we get used to the easy thing, and when it's hard we aren't prepared, are we? I like the way you illustrate your point in this one.

Thanks a lot, Karen and Nan...

Sometimes, many times, climbing trees is the most difficult thing to do...

But, more possibly, it is not the climbing but the staying at the top of the tree and maintaining balance is even harder

Sudhir
