this is for my grandma, and for muted's challenge...my grandma is 100 and afraid to die, to me, it does not matter how old you are when you die, it only matters if your soul is at peace with God

My Grandma

For all these years you have
been alive and I
can’t remember if I told you that
I love you.
I do
love you.
I am sorry for not saying it
more often.

Grandma I just wish I could hold your hand
and go back in time with you
to ninety years ago, when you were ten,
to a time when no preacher
needed to tell your heart that God
was the author of all that lived and breathed,
of the green and growing things
and the birds that fly the sky.

Can you remember giving your heart
to God, when you were still young and
innocent enough to believe
people could be truly
penitent?

And do you remember the heaviness of the years
as they weighed down your faith;
the fiery darts from the evil one
claiming repentance was not
real?
disclaiming the power of God’s love
and sacrifice?

I do.  My Grandma, I need to tell you that
by this unkind world, my heart was completely petrified, I had
not an ounce
of love
left to give.

I can blame no one, it was by my own free will
that it got there but it was only
by my Savior’s urging
that it became soft and pliable
again.

In my heart,
Jesus truly worked a miracle.
He has stilled the unquiet
in my soul…and My Grandma,
He wants me to tell you
that He loves you too.
He loves you even more
for He has loved you
every day of your life-
even when you might not feel loveable-
even when you just feel old.

He sees your soul
young and dancing in the wind.
He sees you smiling.
And when you hurt, He longs
to hold you tenderly and ease your pain.
He simply wants your heart to be His;
He simply wants you to believe.

Jesus is knocking…

in your heart is He residing?

Just over the river He is waiting
His arms outstretched to welcome
you home...

All these years you have
been alive my Grandma and I
can’t remember if I told you that
I love you.
I do.
I love you and I am sorry
for not saying it
sooner.

Jesus loves me this I know
for the bible tells me so

She always knew.
When the older people around me
wonder why He hasn't taken them yet
I just tell them
He must not think they're done
leaving their lessons behind.

Now that you've said the words?

It might bring about her answer.

Knowing you...hugging you.

thank you...hugs back...
my uncle died last night after a long hard illness and I will go to the funeral this weekend...I will be able to read her this, and tell her I love you in person as well...I hope my love as well as the love of our Redeemer will give her peace.

I've been there.. not the exact shoes,
but in ones that seemed bigger then my feet.
yeah, and I needed these so there they are for you.

The love for your grandma and faith to God shines through amazingly here, beautiful!

Always, Alyssa

thank you all so much, we are a large family, 40 or more grandkids, and even though we went every summer to see my grandma, I went to play with the kids, and I never got to know her as a person. I wanted to call her, but lack the words, and so I write...my fingers talk better than my mouth.
Me and my little ones are on the other side of the spectrum, I only have 2, and one lives with me, we are peas in a pod...
thank you again....

Ah, lady... how beautifully you write love... both that you give and that you embrace. I'm so sorry for your loss... I hope this gives all the answers she yearns for.

it is very hard when life comes to a point, through suffering or illness, where death is an answer to a prayer, but for my uncle, it was a welcome answer...sigh...his family was at peace with his passing
and I got to read my poem to my Grandma and hold her and tell her I love her...it was nice...
thank you suthern...you picked out the heart of my words...as you do best
thank you all for your wishes and care

This is very beautiful and tender. I am happy that you got the chance to tell your Grandmother in person that you love her.
Love is all she needs now.
Love, Margherita
