as they often happen
the right end of things
seat themselves
next to the wrong ones
when that proverbial
slip of the slithering tongue
elicits the fire of jealousy
that lurks around lustingly
like brisk green eyes of
some twin-hooded serpent

then it must be in luck
that the shapes of things
are decided whether:
being round and bubbly
or being square and straight --
is the right way to be!

how often do I find myself
at the right place at the wrong time
like a shape-shifter moving
through membranes of doubt
and most often than not
a touch of a second too late!

it is not about getting old,
but the lack of a reflex
that comes naturally to some
speak-easy fortunate lives

with someone like me,
the right end of things
seems to arrive much later
after sifting through reflections
that gleam off a ripple-filled lake
like a brooding farmer
guessing the right time to sow
so as to reap a good harvest

if only to realise that
the right time was then
and that later would be
always a touch too late

you know, sometimes I wonder, if, in fact the wrong places were really the wrong places after all?

Tremendous write!
