where the wild flowers grow

You must'nt blame yourself,
you cannot be
so soft.
I don't like
pressing my fingers against you
and sinking into you
like you were quicksand.
You must be quiet
the mirrors will consume you,
but I can't make you understand..

This world is full of monsters,
I have gaurded your ears from the growls,
and the clumsy footprints.
We are still crawling on our stomachs,
waiting until it all caves in.

I'm starting to forget you,
all I can recall is the sound of your breathing
when we've grown tired of the journey,
you've always been behind me,
and I afraid to turn back and see
the changes that have taken place in you..
the grey that may or may not be in your hair now,
the stains of age that might have
taken over your face,
I remember
it once was smoothe with the young skin.

I wish there were space enough to hold you,
or a way to keep you safe from the nerves,
but first

I must control this bellowing flame..
I must keep spinning the earth.

This world is full of monsters,
just like you and I..
We are just misplaced in a sanctuary of sand.

So many levels...
a very intense write,
as I feel it.

Thank you, Meghan.

Very intense read and satisfying on so many levels.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
