               About to croak?

I had not quite expected it
               the stumbling along
               the tripping into a
               new decade like this
But I hadn't noticed them all
just one small stone at a
time being added to the load
               and who was counting, afterall
               Decades came and went and
               now another is beginning with
a little bit of fright even in
               the middle of the night
               And somewhere along the way
I thought I heard them say
it would be well worth the trip
to get this far and to this day

               Perhaps there was another road
Perhaps there was a lighter cargo load
or perhaps I just should have been
               a toad

Kraw

Time goes by so quickly...and suddenly more is behind you then ahead of you...it is kind of scary...and yet?  I hope you had a good birthday!

Your wry sense of humour comes shining through this poignant, and highly identifiable, piece of poetry.

I try to think of myself as a fine Bordeaux that gets better with the passing of time!

Happy birthday, Dear Daddy Kraw!

I adore frogs, toads, lizards and snakes.
And of course, ever-clever krawdads.

Kraw, is there a beauty around to kiss you?
You know the frog turned into a prince. HeeHee!!
(But, of course, you are already a Prince!!)

Those birthdays just keep rolling around...
if we don't "croak". LOL
Hugs,
Ethel

ah ha! I get to enter a new decade next year...although some say it's the end of this one and the new one will not begin until the next year at X1; but I say, when the ten's digit changes, one has entered...for from the very next nanosecond, one is in "it."

I have to agree with the first reply and the love of toads/frogs one just above mine, as well. Happy Birthday!

Since you've removed your photo, does that mean we will soon have one for the new decade.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

You are a prince among men...never a toad!
Hope you had a fantastic birthday!
Hugs~
