(I knew a fellow who always weighed things carefully, frustrating some of those quick thinkers around him.  They said he rode the fence.  I suppose I'm much like that, a very slow thinker!)

               Riding the Fence

He’d climbed the wire fence
four frames from the top and gotten stuck.
The left boot wobbled on the north side,
Right foot tiptoed opposite direction on south.
Meanwhile  hands cautiously meandered the barbed wire
to maintain balance and prevent an accident of “hide.”

So it seemed he straddled the fence
Seeking balance, unsure of a chosen side
Riding it like a bronco
More than a ten second ride.

If he were in  rodeo that’d be a flattering feat,
But in the real world it’s fast and go,
Grab a thought and run with it
before in time defeat.

Pretty shakey stuff, but isn't it the truth..
Liked the way you wobbled this, Sadie~

Bluesy,
I've got to admit, I had my husband standing beside me and we were trying to act out climbing a barbed wire fence.  What a hoot!  We don't climb too many around here because that means repairing them!!!
I'm glad you were amused by this shaky one.

iliana,
I didn't have him in mind when I wrote this, but yes, at meetings his wavering analytical mind did cause people to lose patience.  A friend of mine was a Louis Lamour fan, constantly quoting something from one of his books about riding the fence.  I was just reminiscing...Nothing really behind this.

passing shadows,
Remind me never to go car shopping with you, Dix!
(I'm like that at the grocery store, so I shouldn't tease you.  One has to check out the nuttitional value, then the cost, then weigh the two against the budget!) Take care, passing shadows.

Hey, slow down! You're riding too fast for me! lol

Actually, I'm all over that proverbial fence! At times I straddle it, at times I climb it, and there are times when I just jumped right over it and into the mire!

Enjoyed yet another one of your writes!
