Listening to every heart

0 posted 2004-04-19 07:46 PM

Escape Goats

I am yours, and yes,
you are mine…

not often enough, but far
too much so for some folks,

you come home, and
we escape…

                                       friends are coming in
                                                                     from Houston…

                                      I need some time off…

And you, my friends, compatriots,
escape goats…you give me and mine

freedom, peace, laughter,
did I mention freedom?

The freshest air of April met our faces
[and being in Kansas, there’s always a lot
of air…]

and the sun greeted our smiles;
the camaraderie so fine,
the laughter, dare I say it,
so very gay…

And in just a few short days of together again,
we whipped problems, found solutions,
commiserated, digressed, digested,
checked stories against stories of
what was told from the last time
we reminisced,
and something I forgot to tell you, is

thank you, for listening about people,
places, and events
which have no bearing for you; you were never there,
didn’t know my people, could only imagine
the landscape,
but you listened, all the same.

We tromped the pastures, and
hit the highways; we fed our brains
and stomached our insecurities;
we encouraged the growing, and
empathized over our ages…

forever young, forever friends…

Escape again soon,
that I may use you, that you may use me
to run away, to enjoy,
and pretend, once again,
we have life by the tale….

~*~

To our friends, J&M
It was a great time!

There's nothing quite like it..is there? Friendship and you and this.

Beautiful Karilea.

Sunshine,
I loved the title and the way you told about your friendship through this witty theme.  Clever.  As usual, much enjoyed!

I hear your voice and suddenly

Oh yes, remembering times well-shared, where everyone 'escaped'...one of the best joys in life is friendship, and it sounds like you had a wonderful time!!  ~S~

There is no balm that will soothe and heal
Like that of friendship with heartfound zeal.
This tells so well of how deeply we feel with true friends.  Well done.  KJ

Freedom! Yes! Free to just be, as it is possible with true friends.
Thank you, dear Karilea, for sharing so very beautifully the fresh April air of Kansas.
Love, Margherita
