Hiding within the folds
of Deaths stenching black habit you lurk.
Spores fly from you,
inhaled by humans, innocents.

Slowly you grow,
within flesh, sinew, blood.
Sapping strength, vitality, life,
reducing your hosts to ghosts.

Finally you deliver your
victim to your master.
The reaper repays you,
allowing you to stalk with him eternally.

''There is no need for temples, no need for complicated Philosophies.
My brain and my heart are my temples; my philosophy is kindness''-  Dalai Lama

Only modern medicine
has given this ever-ghost
its name.

Outside of abstinence,
which is not always the cause,
I hope one day a cure is found.
