~*~

I've watched so many ships pass
dreaming of the sunrise in your eyes
tinged in slated blue.

Scorched by unwelcome tears
that followed in the mourning wake
and the kind of love I'd hoped to find.

With every sail I've raised
torn apart and mended
my hopes lie shattered, but never broken.

When sorrow pours like rain
I've searched the brightest beacon
for the light encompassing my faith.

Pleading with the silence of the stars
pausing beneath a moonlit sky
drawing a bridge that never fails.

To move me with a jolt
and a never ending passion
in pursuit.

If I were the wind
I’d fill your sails so full of love,
your soul would fill the sky.
But I am only me
trying to play you a symphony, so true,
your heart is the beat everyone hears,
the tune so passionately felt,
the words so lovingly sung.
If I were the wind,
I’d fill the heavens with you . . .
but I am only me,
wishing I were the wind for you.

Smile, my friend...and brighten our world.

Thank you so much for reading,  Michele, Kathleen and jwesley... I'm just doing a bit of reflecting on what I once thought was too good to be true.

Right time, wrong ship!!!

Good to read you again Bluesy.
Some things are just too good to be true.
Hugs~

To have lived the dream of a love so true...

Bluesey
Well done...
Emotions do move in "jolt(s)"
especially passion, which in reality has no smooth syncopation and cannot be recorded by the tick of a clock...

I believe that only a person who lives by the ocean can pen words such as these... and the longing that never dies, lives on.

For some reason, I feel like singing, "Brandy, you're a fine girl, what a good wife, you would be... but my life, my love and my lady, is the sea!"

An absolutely gorgeous way to begin your poem.  I like the optimism in this(i.e.
mending of the sail, search for brightest beacon...)  even if the sailing hasn't been smooth.
             Excellent read.

Sadie~ Thank you for your knowing reply.
I don't think there is such a thing
as  smooth sailing, once we venture out to sea...

Makes me want to go back to my little grass shack.

Lori

The ocean, like passion, is turbulant by nature....and it feels right that it be that way.  Loved your poem!

....survival's not in the sails, it's in the keel....nice and heavy so you go topside up even if you're capsized....the kind Lori has!

You have a gift, and it does me good to see you display it here.

very lovely...I felt it could have been written from the top of a New England Widow's Walk...superbly woven...yes, stay the course, continue to seek the beacon, light will be your reward

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
