~*~ The space we carved no longer allures me to fill. Still, I trace my fingers across the markings smoothing over an unfinished dream. Like private etchings that never came to life, whittle away over time And in my heart of hearts I always knew you wouldn't stay at the first sign of breaking away. You were neither my friend or my lover but an artist at work, lacking true color. However, I am grateful you didn't gloss me over, or leave a coat of polish to rub in. Pretending; there was more to us, when there wasn't. ~*~ |

WOW... However, I am grateful you didn't gloss me over, or leave a coat of polish to rub in. Pretending; there was more to us, when there wasn't. Love it! Lori... Mxx The clouds never expect it when it rains, but the sea, changes colour, but the sea, does not change. |

"You were neither my friend or my lover but an artist at work, lacking true color." I've known of a few "artists" in my day, too...I might put a con in front of that, too! lol... No, really, great poem! ...jo [This message has been edited by iliana (05-31-2004 04:26 PM).] |

It's a hard balance to strike, bluesgirl....take it from one who tries. Be patient with the guy -- he's probably trying too, but reduced to clinging to the wire instead of walking it. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

"...but an artist at work, lacking true color." But, as one who prefers to work in the 'shade', shall not feel the warmth of the Sun on his face... CG |

"You were neither my friend or my lover but an artist at work, lacking true color." ~ It is a good thing, Lori, that your artist's eye discerned that his canvas lacked luster! He sounded as tho' he'd paint you blue... To Bright Colours ~ and bright men! Paint your skies with rainbows! Linda |

"You were neither my friend or my lover but an artist at work, lacking true color." Very cool (if painful) lines Bluesy. It won't last forever... |

Very, very well written. The second stanza is my favorite, I'm sorry for your pain, but perhaps it is better if this person did not appreaciate the beauty in you. ~Live and Laugh~ The memories are worth the pain when the happiness is outweighs the sorrow |

Bluesy, As artists go you use a lot of color. And you get "write" to the heart of things. I hurt when I read but it helps me understand. Here's to better days... If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

Bluesy, I don't know why but the following just popped into my mind after reading your words - "Forgive them for they know not what they do". |

I always take a deep breath before I read one of yours... knowing the powerful truths you write will knock it right out of me. *S* |
