The tender blossoms
are torn away so quickly
oh spring breeze-
will you sweep away her heart
across this great divide?

on one branch
birth and death
live side to side

the tree stands thru all

On one branch
life and death
sit side by side

the blossoms are falling

fast as they dress winter's worn branches
they are silenced

yet the tree stands for the duration;

a mother cradles a child inside

destined to be stillborn

how can she both hold
and detach from her tender heart
as while she waits?

for a coworker going thru an ectopic pregnancy

spring is a gentle courier and those sweet petals arent lost in vain...they are gathering knowlege of the plains...and taking in the beauty the mother tree will never see

and i, sit here, taking in the beauty of you...

Amazing.....where you have taken this one...

long awaited,
so soon withered away;
spring blossoms.

This is so literal and yet so metaphorical, as well. Beautifully penned, choshi!

It reminds me of the feeling I have when the wind steals away the blossoms of my mock orange, and their fragrance with them. Then scatters them helter-skelter to wither on the ground where they lie. I always mourn their loss for a time.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
