Under The Same Skies

Under the same skies,
we lay
in separate beds;
tossing and turning;
dreaming of being together.
Our beds becoming prisons,
in which we are shackled
in lengths of blankets and sheets,
incapable of finding release.

The feel of your touch,
not yet a memory,
still only a fantasy,
haunts me and fills me with desire.
I breathe your name,
breathlessly,
into a pillow stained with tears.

You call me
in the middle of the night
to hear my voice,
because you can not sleep
for thinking of me.
My voice,
your comfort,
makes you long for me
even more.

We whisper
to each other
as we drift off to sleep,
thinking of how, someday,
we’ll lay
together
under the same skies.

Hoping this dream becomes a reality soon. Time doesn't wait for us, does it? Such longing here.

*sigh* I understand this one....my honey goes to college in NY.  Excellent writing, you did a great job of capturing the feeling.

Been there! Done that! ~ and sleeping together under the same sheets is so much sweeter!

I felt your words and they brought experiences of my own to me!

May the same sheets and skies cover both you and the man of your dreams!

Certainly no muse problems here.  A nicely
descriptive poem of two lovers...enjoyed.
