Once I was afraid of bugs and snakes and slimy things,
Of wasps and bees and bats with tiny little creepy wings,
But then one day, I went down to my local Piggly Wiggly store,
To get some milk and bread and meat and yes, a petit four,
‘Cause I like desserts and fancy little cakes are surely so nice and sweet,
They melt in your mouth and are so yummy, they just cannot be beat,
But back to the store, I will ramble no more, but stick to my grocery tale,
It was Saturday morning, just before noon and this manly male,
Got caught in the rush, aye the crush of women in curlers all sizes and shapes, (both curlers and women) all shoppers of course,
Who raced down the aisles with overflowing carts, ramming and crushing with no crumb of remorse,
I fought for my life, and wished I’d a wife, to send into the fray, to spare my poor being,
From the rushing and crushing, the wall to wall shoppers, crazed consumers, I even tried fleeing,
But alas, I was done, a goner I was, no hope for this manly male,
In my quest for my petit four, lo’ not meant to be, I most certainly did fail,
As I crawled on my knees across Piggly's cold, aye cold asphalt parking lot, I said to myself,
Myself, once I was afeered of bugs and snakes and slimly little things,
Of wasps and bees and bats with tiny little creepy wings,
But now I know better, I know for a fact, that what is to fear is not fear itself,
But women in curlers, all sizes and shapes, (both curlers and women) down at the Piggly’s at the petit four shelf.

FisherMan~
LOL .... this one cracked me up~

Having been abundantly blessed with naturally curly hair ... I see those curler-helmets too and thank my lucky stars for my ringlets~

Too cute~

I have a rule...I applaud all poets and poetry managing to incorporate the words "Piggly Wiggly" into the work.

And yes, it IS a scary place at times.

Enjoyed.
