I am but a simple saw
Blinded by my cuts
I chew the wood with gnarled teeth
Small ruts behind, I leave.

My father always razzed me
That a blind man could see
If he took his saw and saw.

With that I opened decorative wooden eye
And in deep concentration thought.
Then dropped my handle jaw

I moved 50/50 forth and back
With all the energy
a simple saw could muster.

Still blinded, I jigged on jags,
Hit grains small snags,
Then tried to use more muscle.
(It was of no use; I moved no further through the wood.)

A kindly secret slid across my blade
                              And whispered in open ear,
“To see with saw, one must please
the particular way each saw is made!
Vision is not always 50/50, Dear.
Nor are your teeth chiseled straight up and down,
But angled just for a one-way bite!
Exert yourself only in movement outward,
Rest from inward fight.”

Taking the advise as a grain of truth,
I exerted myself as an extrovert,
Pushed outward with all my might.

I felt  the sawdust warming me.
Once  blinded,  I took my saw and saw.
“Understand,”  the secret said,  “Life’s not always 50/50.
                                                                             ”

Ratleader,
It is soooo good to hear from you again!  I had wondered if we'd hear from you soon.  I noticed a post this a.m., but probably will have to catch it later as I've got to leave for work soon.  I suppose you're right about 50/50.  Im glad you caught this one.  I think it is one of my favorites (of mine).
