The Two Towers

There is this black tower
And I visit nightly within its walls,
Roaming the corridors of darkness,
Feet click-clacking, click-clacking
Holding only my faith as protection
Which now shines only a dim light
That fades with fear---
Fear of myself…
Sometimes when the moon is at its brightest
You can see its shining silhouette against this black tower
Searching for my fleeing soul,
Bravely I step out of the darkness to bare my sins---
Watch me now
As I come out of myself
And become true,
See the creature within and weep
Fear the man who does not sleep.

There is this white tower that I visit in my dreams
And within its walls lies joy
But I am often not welcomed---
So I creep along its perimeter cautiously
Bouncing upon buoyant white clouds
Feeling my way to an entrance
Finding a door…
Then falling silently---sweetly…

I close my eyes and drift
Confident there is no landing,
It feels like I am floating on water
Wondering why death hides from those who seek it;
I awake from waves that once comforted my sleep
And then…day turns to night,
The moon chuckles in delight---
A tale of two towers
Which one will I see tonight?

Marcel

An enjoyable read, Marcel. Good imagery...I can almost see you creeping along those outside walls
and loved the thought of the moon chuckling.

The first step to recovery is to admit your addiction. So, here it is:

I, Amanda Barmash, am addicted to Ben Harper.

I think I will see the white tower...I can easily drift into fantasy in that one and weave a world filled with beauty....This poem is beautifully written showing both sides of the night....Well done...

Night is the stillest part of our existence. Even then we have two sides to our being. You have taken us to both. Excellent job!
