I envy your tears;
they know the depth of your heart
like no other.
I envy your tears;
they trace the soft contours of your cheeks
as I watch from the distance.
I envy your tears;
they emerge from the well springs of your soul
in all its hues and tones.
I envy your tears;
they taste sweetness of your lips....
as I dream and wonder.

Absolutely beautiful Paul..
Very very much enjoyed the read.

Men need the release of tears at times as well. It really is nature's way. Holding them in is unnatural, but there are those in our society who feel that a man is less than a man if he sheds a tear. So sad. It makes me want to cry...

This was a lovely and sensitive write by a compassionate man!

In envy of tears
do you leave your heart parched
needing reprieve of river's flow,
to swallow the current
and drown the sorrows
that well inside your soul?

In envy of tears
do the "what might have beens"
bury themselves beneath eyelids
too weary to blink away
the embedded memory's grain
like sand awaiting the tide?

In envy of tears
you stand alone, waiting
to touch the rosey wet
of tender cheeks in need
of envy's plead to break
the distance between.....

Im not meaning to hijack your thread, but you
got my heart and mind thinking and wanting to react
to this lovely poem you have written.
Its such a sweet thought i just wanted to
reciprocate it.. (ok, so i know im not the subject,
but i certainly had fun pretending!!)

Dear Dawn, Don't you know that for me, the highest compliment, is a poem in response, in so doing, you pull on and extend the thread, beautifully, eloquently, lovingly...    ~P

resolution

From a distance
beyond the pale of tears
as lovers touch-
the sun shines in a blue sky
in eyes that sparkle silently

So lovely and tender.  It reminds me so of one of my favorite songs "jealous of the rain".  Beautifully written and I can feel the longing.

The song I spoke of is on the Shania Twain CD "UP".  It talks of being jealous of the rain, of the moon, etc.  It is so beautifully romantic and speaks to my heart. I hope you listen to it, it is quite lovely.

It made me cry...big baby that I am.  Sigh...thank you for reminding me that at the end of the day I am still able to FEEL!
