How Deep?

How deep is this well called heart?
The waters that flow within are
cool and refreshing.
At times the silver and gold beneath your feet are
nothing more than slivers of silt and burnt clay.
You throw away the sand saying it is of no value.
You pick up pebbles and crush them in your hands.
You throw your voice into the well screaming.
“I am not important leave me be.”
How deep is this well called heart?
The waters that flow within becoming clouded
with the polluted aggressions of today.
The pearls thrown your way crushed beneath
feet of steel and modern ways of thinking.
Where have the cool refreshing waters gone?
The waters no longer quenching your thirst
leaving you parched
and
not knowing why.
The once ever present warmth
now sending chills down into your weary,
skeptical mind.
Words asking, questions always present.
How deep is this well called heart?

So glad you liked everyone.
This just came out the blue. I was going to lie down b/c I was feeling yucky today.
Then words invaded my mind and thoughts started to flow like a picture show. Don't  don't even know how the words came about.

Bonnie~
You caught the words-in-flow and cascaded them beautifully~
Some things are just meant to be~
