Please step softly
within my soul's spiraling staircase,
for the dust settles too swiftly
over these vanishing footprints
even as I pass by you.

It seems I never really was here
except in my mind's eyes,
and so I choose to

blink blink blink blink

away these images of reality,
the feel of flesh flashing by
too soon, in dark syncopation.

And it seems that no one saw
all my shadows dancing on the wall,

for my color was too multi-dimensional,
overexposed, yet underdeveloped
like rapid thoughts flashing
before the mind's eyes.

I pinched the outer edges of
my life's self-seeking snapshots,

negative proofs of reality
exposing me...
leaving me wanting so much more
than what could be captured in the space
alloted to me.

But the negatives did not
contain me.

Please, hold me in your hands
and in your memory gently.
Breathe deeply my exhaled imagery,
then return to me the essence of my being,
that I may know
I lived a full 3D reality,
that I did not leave it all behind
in the dark room.

Step softly
within my memory.

Kacy, What a poem, so full of depth and feelings that I easily resonate with, yet you maintain a playfulness of language in your choice of images....I'm going back for another read
