Desire can drive a man insane Making mush out of his brain, Longing for the surface beauty Thought enthralled by a cutie; So it was with the young Cain. Emerald was his affections aim Raven hair and eyes deep green, Prettiest woman he had ever seen; Not that Cain had seen that many This being his first visit to the city From the country on a mountainside. Yet her beauty could not be denied, With a glance he was in her powers Spending his money on exotic flowers She took every gift that he sent Till every last penny was spent Then casting him off well used His soul and spirit now abused. Going back to the country on a slow train And Emerald did not remember his name. Gloom |
