I reach out, but the line is disconnected....
Only silence is heard.    From now...until
then, when life ceases within me and
the earth fades slowly away.

I cry out, but only the echo of my own
voice is heard, repeating itself over and
over until it fades...as you fade.

I cry, but the tear no longer stains a
worn hand that once lay upon my
shoulder, comforting me....

Cold, the steel of where you lay,
draped beneath fifty stars and
thirteen stripes...folded carefully,
handed gently to my shaking
hands....   From “a grateful
nation”....

Lie me there beside thee, that
I might rest.  And till that day,
let me lie upon a meadow,
staring upwards....counting
the shimmering lights...till
dreams of you come and bring
once again a tear....and a smile
to me.

OhMagnus~
You touch me tenderly with your thoughts on this night~

Go ... watch the stars ... and know that those who have gone before you are twinkling the pathway home ... when, and only when, it is your time~

Shed the tear ... then smile for the remembering~

somehow with such a plea of passion as this, she hears you, somehow you lay with her in her resting place for now

Thank you Julie,  it was my father,  but I
miss her too...I never realized how empty
one could feel when they no longer have
their parents...

Ah, dear Magnus, yes, we miss them each and everyday, but it seems especially lonely on any given holiday. Hugging you, Chris

soooo bitterly sweet!
Your words touched my heart.

When my father died, I wanted to lay down and die myself.  I know your feelings to a large degree although we each have our own uniqueness.  Such a sad, tender write, and I am so sorry for your loss, Barry.

Magnus,
I had noticed you haven't been posting lately and wondered how you were doing.  I wish there was something I could do to ease the pain.  Know that you have many friends here that have had you in their thoughts as you go through this rough time.
