Saluting with misty eyes

There's a lullaby on the wind
Blowing warm and free
Tossing the leaves
At the top of the mighty oak
As she blocks the sun
I stand alone in the darkness
Praying for the light
Wishing to climb to the melody
There is a lullaby
Flying among the birds
Being tossed around the clouds
I have seen the happiness
And joy it brings
Yet still, here on the ground
They are just notes
I have yet to hear

*Thank you to Wendy for the inspiration*

beautifully worded; I could visualize the gentle breeze floating a lullaby slightly above our giant oak, a monster to climb if in pursuit of the lullaby.   I enjoyed this very much.
