Her hair is restless and doesn’t keep still
it swims along the wind.

In the shadows of the dock
she beckons the Willy wag-tail
speaks to pigeons about certain
gods and rulers of the universe
and wonders where all the sparrows
have gone...

perhaps she is insane.

She stubs out her cigarette
and looks for crumbs
doing her best to shut out the rain
the thunder-bolts in her head

she is hooked
and dangles over the sea
a death grows there
under miles of white cloud.

A memory resurrects
her dreams drown
in a wild rhythm of a wild love
and turns her back on the sun

he who cannot cry
he who whispers endlessly to her pain.

Beauty of the world which is soon to perish has two edges, one of laughter and one of anguish, cutting the heart asunder.

Hey pretty lady, just, wow. The thunderbolts in her head had me in awe. This had me there with her...smelling rain and feeling the grey. Into my library. xx

This is a wonderful write, Maree.  I agree with Martie...she is familiar.  I missed your brush strokes on this one in Open 25, glad I didn't miss your portait here.  You are one poetess I deeply admire.  I don't think I've told you that before.  And when I read your work, I both learn and enjoy.

Happy Easter to you!

Seems to me I remember this (but my memory goes wherever the sparrows go, when they go) - I do know I had to have loved it because I do now and I don't remember ever changing the way I love.

The sound of silence calls,
I hear your voice and suddenly
I'm falling, lost in a dream
The echo of our souls meet

I think I prefer this revision

though both are quite worthy to carry your name
