Looking Back On Time By Paul Wilson Travel across the bridge of time Past yesterdays and days before Relive history of the ages Watching time unfurl nothing more As we walk beside our brothers Tears begin to fall from our eyes Driven from what was their homeland This trail of tears will claim many lives Men toiling in the fields all day Wearing chains that bind them as slaves Whipped and beaten by their master's Until they are put in their graves A nation is now torn apart Brother’s fight against each other Mothers mourn loved one’s they have lost One wears gray… blue on another Forward thru time we now proceed Morning skies exploding in red To a far away place called Pearl Where soldiers die lying in bed Protesters now march in defiance Singing songs of peace we are told While young boys are becoming men Afraid they will never grow old How long will this fighting go on? A hundred years longer or more Our journey has come to an end To the present we open the door Throughout the years nothing has changed We’re still fighting for peace on earth Fighting for thousands of years Even before our savior’s birth Day becomes night… time never stops Sadly… the past becomes today Time has changed, but fighting remains God please give us peace we still pray "To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you" |

Well written my friend...though I have my doubts about "peace" ever becoming the norm...too many personalities vying for attention you know... jwesley |

Hey Paul: This is a brilliant write. A story told from the beginning of time to this very moment. Heartfelt, and Amen to that last line:” God please give us peace we still pray” JL |

Exceptional piece here, Paul. Mankind will never stop fighting, this much is apparent. Even in the garden of Eden, Cain found a reason to kill his brother. If mankind couldn't make it work there, when God provided us everything, how can we expect anymore from ourselves left to our own devices. I have native Indian (Cherokee) in my blood...moreso than some famous politicians even So I can't tell you how much I felt this one. Michael |
