What Never Was

It's five O'clock in the morning
first night alone's crept by me
the curtains on this open window
flutter in the morning breeze
I stare out at the dim lit street
gazing through a misty rain
thinkin about why we
went our separate ways

Chorus:
we got caught up in each other
wonderin where our future'd go
two lonely souls together
hiding in each others hope
searching for that magic feeling
some call the one and only love
an we fooled ourselves believing
we would find what never was...

In two more hours I leave this room
fade into the working day
I'll always remember you
but things'll never be the same
Still I wish I could hold you
one more time to fill the space
you left behind in my mind
and in this empty place.

Chorus:
we got caught up in each other
wonderin where our future'd go
two lonely souls together
hiding in each others hope
searching for that magic feeling
some call the one and only love
an we fooled ourselves believing
we would find what never was...

Bridge:
We were looking for answers that heal lonely minds
Living love cliches that only speak of passing time

Chorus:
we got caught up in each other
wonderin where our future'd go
two lonely souls together
hiding in each others hope
searching for that magic feeling
some call one and only love
an we fooled ourselves believing
we would find what never was

Ain't doin nothin at all
Just answerin the call
Kinda driftin away from it all~~~~~

And the music, Eric?  Mid-tempo, slow and low?

I want to hear it...

Only a full life citizen could write these lyrics and have them be so real.

You *sigh* this music right into my soul~

'Still I wish I could hold you
one more time to fill the space
you left behind in my mind
and in this empty place.'

Hi MGROVES and thanks for going there and waking up with this piece.

Hey TD if you could see my big belly then you'd realize how accurate you are by using the term "full life citizen". I thank you for the kind remarks.

Hey Marge it's always good to hear from you and even better to reach your soul. Thanks for the kind words and the hug.

iliana thanks for reading this and as I mentioned, I will post this when I have the music to it.

Dixie thanks for such a wonderful superlative this early in the morning. I appreciate the thought.
