For Brunettes Only

I press those thoughts again
trying to squeeze them into alloted time,
knowing there is only so much of it
to go around.

Awakened early, trying
to mend my ways, knowing
the look forward, at least on this day
is one of sunshine and possibilities.

Who am I to distance myself
from whispered words
that burn into my night mind
preying on the not forgotten
against the softness within me?

What is this, that keeps me awake,
tensing my body though trying
to dream those dreams that
should be within my dark hold?

I could drink myself into oblivion,
for I have the means but
lack the willpower.
I need to remember
all that passes through me, live it,
learn from it and let temptation
fall where it may.

I could never be blonde, though it is enticing
to become someone I am not.
I could wish for a young soul, but
then I would have missed some of the
best times of my life.
I could walk out on it all, sometimes
wanting the easiness of it.

With each moment, I am thinking ahead
while living the present,
knowing life continues and somehow...
I will endure.

M

I believe you my friend...hard as it may be, we MUST endure...otherwise we never taste of the honey to come...besides, our nature is to endure.

I can certainly relate to this one, Maureen.  Yes, we do survive in spite of ourselves - I often wonder why though.

Yes, Maureen, you will endure. It seems
hard sometimes, but you will.
My thoughts are with you.
Hugs to you

no matter what colour...
no matter what obstacle..
no matter what, you are strong...and you are in touch with what matters...

Thank you, everyone. Yes, I will endure...despite the obstacles.

Inked one I don't really need to try being a blonde. My greys beneath are turning me light enough. Besides, I  y'am what I y'am.

Brad, thank you for the brunette confidence...
Although I am much lighter than I use to be, I could never really be blonde...I would clash with my olive skin color.

So much past applied to the present so well making for the brightest future. Always you endure with class!

P.S. Good choice on the blonde thing.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
