April

the last month you reciprocated

I knew the sun-dew reminded me of someone

The last time I knew you loved me.

Making my excuses, silent excuses

escaping to greener fields with you

I were a fool to the sunlight.

Grasping at rays

that could not hold me

only burn me.

This April day was a reminder

once of finer things

and now

of how the strength of sun

was blinding

keeping me close

and humble

to such skin.

"The last time I knew you loved me."

Gemma...

and wonderfully written.
