It happened just as you feared,
And now you can’t sleep at night.
You’ve grown accustomed to my beard
And the hat that I wear to the side.

It was simpler then. We were distant.
Three rows separated our seats
And you turned your head every instant
That our careless gazes would meet.

I was then too shy to approach you.
I considered you out of my league.
From the back of the classroom, I watched you
And studied your stunning physique.

And we couldn’t have imagined it ever
That we’d fall in love, on a whim,
That we’d end up happy together,
That you’d have to explain it to him.

Very good write here. Caught me off guard at the ending.   Chris
