Façade’

I met you when I needed you.
You are a master with words.
I find solace and at times relief,
within the trace of each letter.

Yet it is not your full time job.
A hobby, you would say.
A source of release
from the demons that follow you.
The ones you made
and the ones you image

I learned I couldn’t help you.
Although I long to do so.
But it isn’t my job
to save you.
As if I could.

You are smarter than me
in most ways.
Yet I see the folly of you thinking
that this is it.

Resignation,
behind the busy eyes.
Hidden behind the smile
presented to most.

The shadow of pain
behind a slowed beat
of a denied heart.

"cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind"
~Sarah McLachlan~

WOW, This was beautifully written.
I connected with it so much,
you have a gift for transcribing
emotion into words.

I loved the lines..
"Resignation,
behind the busy eyes."

I've seen this hidden retirement before,
but you describe it wonderfully.

Excellent write, in its clarity and depth...and in it's wisdom.
