Relinquishing the Cold

I felt calm, cool
and collected, though laughing a bit.
Not out of nervousness,
but maybe unexpected expectation.

Words can be very powerful,
and the voice behind them
flame my thoughts, making them
reel behind the closed eyes.

I am sure I smiled in my sleep,
maybe for the first time in months.
Not knowing which words
brought it to my lips,
happy either way.

It is nice to be touched,
even if through the mind.
New thoughts replacing the old,
allowing access for hope to reign
on such a "wintery" day.

Wondering when the warmth of Spring
will make its way...
behind these closed doors.

Lovely Maureen..
And I do hope you smiled in your sleep.
The warm weather is sure to be here soon.
Enjopyed the read.

Keep on smiling and YOUR warmth will hasten Spring!

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.
