THE LONELY MIND

Love keeps taking off and landing
on the winds of chance that blow
How much good time it can leave
Lord I'll never know.
Just when you think you've captured it
you find yourself alone
With a gaping hole to fill
where love once made it's home.

(Chorus)
Why do lovesick fantasies
seem to fade toward hurt
Why do some say reality
will change better into worse
What is worth fighting for
in this short lifetime
if there's no love that works
to heal the lonely mind

Love keeps circling and finding
victims everywhere.
A thrill that drills into souls
of lovers unaware.
When you think you're on a trip
you miss the thoroughfare
and the love you were happy with
crashes in despair.

Love lies outside understanding
offering a prize.
Where the heart is too demanding
and there's none too wise.
Then when you try to escape it,
it's bigger than your eyes.
You'll find yourself start to slip
right into paradise

(Chorus)
Why do lovesick fantasies
seem to fade toward hurt
Why do some say reality
will change better into worse
What is worth fighting for
in this short lifetime
if there's no love that works
to heal the lonely mind

Ain't doin nothin at all
Just answerin the call
Kinda driftin away from it all~~~~~

Eric, this is a wonderful write. I think, unless we learn to love unconditionally, no one will ever do. When we love without expectation only then can we truly say we LOVE. But our little hungry hearts always want confirmation and so we rise high in ecstasy and risk to fall badly and hurt.

Still it's worth LOVING.

Thank you.
Love, Margherita

Have sung this song dear Eric...
Enjoyed your write for all that it is...
And think that we forget as we wander that the plan was not of our making, and the learning is there for our giving and taking.

Always great to read you.

Yep, yep, like it. I can almost hear the tune, as well. Like the happy ending ..."slippin into paradise"

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
