One day to another and other again
To be and to struggle till end
Each moment presenting its tidings again
But mostly frustrations to send

I tire from hours that claim all the day
I sit here to fall half asleep
With hope I try muster some words come my way
But lately I don’t hear a peep

A million thoughts beacon their voice to be heard
Too often they all fade away
And mostly I find that I don’t write a word
The wanting to seeming to stay

Are we given a quota that empties with time?
That slowly might fill if we’re blessed
Do we drink it as wine to merry despair?
To lighten the load and to rest

Is the quota a gift that is given to man?
To use as a well to fulfill
A treasure-trove hidden till time turns to need
A time of the testing and will

Are the voices inside us all part of each life?
When silent, then where do they speak?
Are they voices of people that we’ll never see?
The mentors and angels we seek

So I’m sitting in hope with a wine and a thought
Proposing a toast to each friend
Hoping they’ll chatter with glee once again
And I’ll find the message they send

You just answered your own question with thought provoking poem.

No quotas! Just like our memories, the thoughts and the feelings are always there but they tend to hide behind the labors of life sometimes.

Eric, thank you so much for this reply, I often wonder if the voices in my head were to stop, what would happen, I suspect there would peace and quite for a while.
Good to see you here my friend, again thank you.

My reply to your question, dear Rick, is no. I don't think there is a quota. The flow is constant, but we are not always equally receptive. Honestly I think you are doing great with your insightful poems and messages.
When we succeed in meditating I think we receive more clearly.
Love, Margherita

loved it Rick..and yes, I think there are times meant for us to rest and just soak up  what others have expresed until the time is right to create again.

Dear Margherita, thank you so much my friend for your kindness in thought, for a reply that spoke volumes to me, I must try meditation and see what comes my way, great seeing you here again.

Dear Dixie, to share what I feel is a pleasure, thank you my friend for being there to read and reply, always nice to have you visit.

Dear M (nakdthoughts), thank you for choosing the lines that you did, when I wrote them I had the feeling of creation; of something new; wording that some how fulfilled a need inside. Great to see you here my friend, I shall try resting a little more and see what comes my way.

Juju, you are very thoughtfull to have replied, thank you for being there my friend, very much appreciated.

To you all my friends, again thank you, your words have made me smile and appreciated you all.

Sincerely
Rick
