I'll never see
4044004
today is only
4042004
and again, time changes.
I'm going to lose an hour.

But I have no regrets,
since I was never expected to BE
at the dawn of 4041950.

LOL, can't you see?
It's really allright with me,
for I have lived
more than half a century,
and that in itself
is beyond what they said
would be the fate of me....

for when I was but
a swaddling squalling babe,
double pneumonia enveloped me;
a casket they did order,
for mom and dad to bury me
alongside brother Darryl,
who had preceeded me for eternity.
So it's just another number
on the calendar of time,
and I am sitting here at a PC
still trying to make a rhyme,
the same as I did when just an ornery kid
who at age five challenged my dad:

"If I can make a rhyme,
then you owe me a dime.
But if I can make you holler?
You owe me a whole dollar!"

And in those days,
a dollar went a long ways.

*sigh*

So I am happy to be here today,
no matter what the calendar says,
and it doesn't really matter
if I lose one hour tomorrow either.
I am happy to be

alive.

Yes, happy to BE. Is that meant as an anniversary or birthday? Either way, even at five you perfectly knew what you wanted to be, it seems.
A poetess, and a cute one too, you ARE.
Love and hugs. Margherita

I'm happy you're here too Midnite...

Thanks for sharing your wonderful poetry

Maree.

Beauty of the world which is soon to perish has two edges, one of laughter and one of anguish, cutting the heart asunder.
