Scanning shelves of books,
looking for a paricular tome.
Into libraries and shops,
without luck i had gone.

Where might i find this volume?
Down narrow streets,
into dark dusty shops.
Searching boxes full of words.

Deflated and tired,
i made my way back home.
Waiting for the train,
the sky like black ink dropped in water.

Pulling into the station,
the train ten minutes late.
Finally on board and moving,
i searched for the comfort of a seat.

Finding my seat,
i sat and stared awhile.
Thinking of my illusive book of mystery.
Had i searched all known areas?

Looking around the train,
people were getting up.
Reaching their journeys end,
their comute was over.

A woman in scarlet coat,
rose from her seat.
Watching her, she stepped off the train,
into the foggy night she walked.

The empty seat she had sat in,
was not totally empty.
Lying face up and bold,
was my book of mystery.

Dawn...thank you for your reply..i too love looking at old books..something about their smell...and texture....this poem is about synchronicty....and the chances of something turning up at that particular time..on that particular train....almost like it had someone..or something putting it there...so it could be found....

Thank you again...

Goldenrose.

Very cute write, Goldenrose.

No place like libraries to feel the touch of worlds.

There are such magical synchronicities NO DOUBT.

Love, Margherita
