~*~

Darkness slipped into morning
naturally, the sun had come up
attempting to put a face on the day
but the clouds stifled it's glow.

Hung in the mist, that fell in the shadows
the fuchsia's, content on their own.
It is spring time after all
but the winter is still whistling.

Bleeding hearts lie uncovered
exposed to the cold,
braced against the slack
tied down, like a sash between seasons.

Thinking of you in the breezeway of my mind
as the clouds parted and peeled back,
pouring a bucket of light
whitewashed in gray.

A flock of birds flew
and made for the sky
while I watched and I wondered,
had they read my mind too.

Blusey
Very nice, seasonal poem....

A couple days ago the daffodills were poking out of the thin snow...this stanza reminds me of that...
"Bleeding hearts lie uncovered
exposed to the cold,
braced against the slack
tied down, like a sash between seasons."

yes, "like a sash between seasons"

Wonderful read! So descriptive, and the mixture of pain and hope so finely put together.

they just do, don't they, when we receive their insight and their loving light

A nice bright poem, enjoyed reading again.

Lori

Quite a storm on this end...with lightning that knocked out electricity...it was exciting to have a taste of winter, in spring.  Love your poem!

Aw the season of mixed emotions. It seems it comes too often. I love how you express life. And I love most how you live it!

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Bluesy, girl, one day we will all fly.  Perhaps we shouldn't be wishing it too soon - life is a "promise" after all but I sure wish it would only promise good things.
Sorry, I got carried away.  Lovely poem and I envy you welcoming spring while we feel the chill of approaching winter.
