I love to be out on
The highways and
Byways.
Be there as morning mist
shrouds the splendour of
The Vale Of York.

Follow a childhood dream to
set foot on  Pennine Way,
travel south to Canterbury,
walk in the footsteps of Chaucer,
listen the chimes of the cathedral
he heard  in days long gone.

Cornwallis wild shores awaits
where smugglers are best ignored.
Visit Sherwood at taillight,
evoke the ghosts of Robin Hood
and his merry band.
Catch a glimpse of Marian
as she browses the many
colourful stalls of Nottingham
Goose Fare.

It looked like Marian.

Come at last to the beautiful
panoramic coastline of Yorkshire
blessed with the stamp of Eden.
Gladly I fall to my knees,
give thanks for my wonderful heritage.

Cusick, I've never been there, but your write is certainly descriptive enough to have taken me there.  The nostalgia you have expressed tells me what a special place it is, indeed, and makes me want to visit!  ~K~

Maggie, it sounds wonderful!
Something for me to plan on
as I near retirement!  or before!
