I followed your gaze into midnight’s soulful skies.
Why was it that time always stood still next to you?
The dipper was suspended above us,
as were my thoughts, listening
as you deftly pointed out the celestial bodies,
names slipping from your tongue with such ease
it was as if they were your intimate friends.

The very moon seemed to acknowledge
your presence in ways I never fully understood.
Shadows hugged you more closely than most,
especially under the fullness of the harvest moon.
Cricket’s song was more vibrant than usual,
and yonder owl winked in recognition.

"Step softly over the stones," you whispered.
"Try to keep your footfall light,
to not disturb the movement
of the scurrying lizards at night."

The soft mournful tune of a solitary loon
drifted in the air from a nearby misty lake.
(It still echoes deep within my throat.)
The rhythms of nature's heartbeat,
the timeless song of the ancients
filled the night air with calm acceptance
of the continual rites of love’s passage,
unfolding the essence of life.

Wrapped in anticipation,
cloaked only in a passionate resolve
to make every moment count,
I lifted my face to receive
the warm moist breath of life,
as falling starlight surrounded us.
We fell to our knees in acceptance,
embraced by the soft grasses,
enfolded, within each other's dream.
The moment awakened a sleeping passion,
too long hidden under layers
of self-imposed exile.

...to be continued....

(this is a re-write from my muse's memory bank, something I wrote many years ago...)

Oh Kacy, this is magical. I will be happy to read the continuation.
May you find such beauty also in the Now.
But memories are so precious!
Really very beautiful!
Love, Margherita
