Beat Generation Hang-over

bongos cracked the silenced walls of the 50s--
hemorrhaged heritage heretics
stood-up and in rebellious orations:
lifted the toilet-seated Johns' and Janes'
interest in freedom of speech.  Hear ye, hear ye
cool daddys, lend us an ear. Jello is the only
stable podium on which we could hope to lean on,
and though we speak loosely we don't use ex-lax
-ed values; just being flushed away like so much pot-ty.
granted, we brush daily with ipana. grease back with brylcream.
we hang murderers and prosecute perverts
just like you good ol' boys.

but you know we're different.

Boy, that's the truth. Interesting and prophetic.

Enjoyed.

great write, oft I think of those days and the irony of how so things were changed...must admit, in my younger years, I was indeed a part of it...although I really didn't like hard rock much...smiles and hugs, good one.

Took me back to Dobby Gilas and the old black and whit police cars.
Too cool, Grover.  Nice write.  Thanks for the memories.

That's a nice looking soap box you've got.
