Moved from a shack to a barn

0 posted 2004-03-27 11:33 PM

While its true that I have never written
or ever before had the desire to do so
it came to me that there are things
that need to be said

But, that particular endeavor
has been difficult at best

So, I prattle on
couching my concerns in metaphor
alluding allegorically to that which matters
Gilding turds, so to speak, in my own fashion

Realizing,
that if it were enough to just write things
those things, may have already been written
But, because I am a creature of ego
I feel too, that things written are to be read

And since I don’t yet enjoy the anonymity of history
I am given to thoughts of messages in bottles

Entertained by the notion that what I’ve fermented
Could be distilled onto paper and bottled in bond
To be cast into the ocean with other such flotsam

I am amused that what I find to be so weighty
Could be easily buoyed by so small a vessel
And bob along endlessly upon Neptune’s ceiling

I suppose the proverbial message in the bottle is always a surprise- so be it if ye seek posterity thus good luck.

I like this; its a weird thing, the desire to write and to be heard - somehow its just not enough to think about it (whatever it may be)

you always amaze me, im not anyone important, but i do listen, i do mentally digest the words, and i do try to learn from them (in one way or another)....

Yes words exist to be heard, and YOURS will always have an audience

You go right to the core of the writer's motive... the writer's incentive!

fantastic Ed, and this:
'And bob along endlessly upon Neptune’s ceiling'
just a fantastic and witty image

You've written me also with this one Ed.  Very much enjoyed...
