I haven't got a single thought;
I know
at the end of such a newsworthy week
as this was supposed to be,
if I believed the frantic anchor heads
telling me
all sort of neatly woven polished lies,
tinted with half truths,
spun into a shimmer
of what barely holds a glimmer of reality
for an old line research freak like me,
then I ought to have at least
a few cogent pithy comments,
snide asides,
insights
into the plight of the modern humanoid
trying to pick a path around
scattered piles of bovine waste,
but poli-social commentary doesn't suit my taste tonight;
its been a week devoid of thought,
of running to the grocery stores,
of unexpected chores,
of chauffeuring kids to libraries,
and soccer games,
by Friday they ought to feel lucky
I recall their names,
a work week of selling my soul
right to the edge of whoredom,
drowning
in the boredom of the mindless pap
that spews forth from my cable
as if it's on a tap
plunged into an endless keg
of narcotic make believe,
I could be sorry
that I seem prone to relieve my angst
by leaving it in puddles here,
on these blue pages
that have become so precious to my heart,
since in part I get my biggest smiles
from the works of many I hold dear,
but I can't dredge up an ounce of guilt,
I'll just pull this place up
like a quilt around my chin,
curl up in a ball,
sip a single glass
of Tennessee's finest,
and seek my own fondest dream of all
...and that,
I am not sad to say,
remains a secret
to my dying day.

I don't think you'll be alone, my friend.

Don't we all look forward to our therapy room here?!  Your words just flow like you're sitting  there talking, making a pleasure always to read you (excluding your secret, of course)!     ..jo

Only the whiskey's different....Jim Beam's a Kentucky brew....

Otherwise it is the same for me, the feeling, the want and the dream -- one I well know, and know well. I read you loud and clear on this one.

If I bring a glass and sit with you...
will you share your fondest secret with me?
Hugs~
