Moved from a shack to a barn

No one, I’m sure
knows who first wrote of “light”
as “love’

Knows which poet first used this conceit

That it is found in scripture is certain
and used
often, Ad Nauseum, in the millennia since

But who
do you suppose, may have been first?

A scribe, perhaps bored with his tallies
and taken with a poetic bent
scratched this metaphor into a clay tablet
upon seeing Ra shine love onto a slavegirl

Or even, in a time before words
could a skin-clad being
have portrayed a beloved image
at the center of a circle of sunlight
that splashed upon the wall of his cave?

I don't know the answer, but whomever carved the "Sun Dagger" is a good candidate.

*smile*

Thanks for starting my day with a smile!

"Love is eternal -- the aspect may change, but not the essence There is the same difference in a person before and after he is in love as there is in an unlighted lamp and one that is burning. The lamp was there and was a good lamp, but now it is shedding light too, and that is its real function. And love makes one calmer about many things, and that way, one is more fit for one's work."

Perhaps it was a snake that seeks the shade
Or perhaps the light of a curious maid.
Enjoyed

Wranx, now you've got me thinking.  Enjoyed this and all the ponderings it has provoked in responses.

I started this day with this poem.  It is like sippin' whisky, just needed one more nip before trundling off to bed.

Thanks.

If it's a short visit to the site....look for wranx....he never lets you down. Well thought and well said, my friend.

I'm glad I can still come here a little bit, because when I do, I find things like this waiting for me.
