There was one time,
Oh, I remember well,
You and I danced.
My first taste of desire,
your lips.
My first temptation,
Unfulfilled,
and I miss you even still.

There was a second time,
And a third, then more.
You and I spoke.
My first taste of intimacy,
Your mind.
My first thirst for knowing,
Your soul.

And there was the time
You showed me salt on pizza,
The only way I eat it now,
My first taste of flavor.

So much of you remains with me,
And I savor those precious scenes
So embedded in my memory.

Dixie, yes, somewhat -- although love exists, it justs goes out into the universe somewhere waiting to fall on some lucky pair and test their devotion and maturity.  It's late, sorry if I'm wandering.  Hope you're doing alright!

This is one bound to bring stories...
I've only let myself fall in love once so far (I'm sixteen). And I swear I'd have given him everything and married him, despite how obvious it became that we were wrong for eachother. We were together for a year and a half, never even kissed... but I know I'd have made ever sacrifice apart from giving up my God to love him if he'd have let me. I still love him...
I don't know how some people can love and forget, doesn't make sense to me... I guess that wouldn't hurt as much though. I need to be more shallow lol

Oh, ddi I mention I love the poem? Sorry, heh, its late!

Always, Alyssa

Love is never wasted once it's tasted! Even when the flavour dissipates, or becomes bittersweet, the memories of that "First Flavor" can keep us warm even when there is little to savor in the present.

I was really touched by this tender poem and it conjured up some pleasant memories of my own!

Love & Light,
EA

You brought me back
some lovelies and I know
a review of this
in times to come
will bring back even more...

I'm going to have to build you your own shelf
in my library, ma'am...

Nicely done. Yes, I believe that love remains part of the "collective", and stays extant.

(And a thank you for your kind comments)

First flavor states so well that overwhelming
overload of senses sensual and tiniest moments living first loves create valleys
deep and oceans wide in all INSIDE

well done

Jo~ this was one of your best....I really liked the thoughts and memories it brought back to me....

Love never dies..nor is it ever lost...love burns forever...and I have alot of candles glowing inside the heart of my life, but only one is the torch that outshines them all.. yes my heart is one big birthday cake, many slices have been tasted....the flavor always remains in your mind....

Dear Jo, the "first flavor" remains impressed even under layers of other flavors ...
A wonderful and also tender write, that brings back memories also in the reader.
Love and hugs. Margherita
